“The Red Crescent organizes an event at The Avenues to commemorate World First Aid Day and Climate Change.”

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society celebrated World First Aid Day under the theme “First Aid and Climate Change” this year through an event held at The Avenues on Saturday, September 13. This initiative is part of the Society’s commitment to raising awareness about the importance of essential skills for individuals in facing health and environmental challenges. The event was organized by Dr. Nilofer Jahrami, a board member and chair of the Youth and Adolescents Committee and the Environmental Agricultural Team in the Society, in collaboration with the First Aid Committee and other working committees within the Society. The event witnessed significant attendance and remarkable engagement with the awareness activities presented by the Society. It particularly focused on the vital role that first aid plays in addressing the increasing impacts of climate change, emphasizing the importance of rapid response to health emergencies resulting from natural disasters.

The event included interactive stations to teach basic first aid skills, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to handle choking incidents, and minor injuries. It also featured important awareness activities about the effects of climate change on public health and how to prepare for related emergencies, directly linking the Society’s humanitarian mission with environmental responsibility. In a statement, Dr. Nilofer Jahrami indicated that the Society aims, through such events, to raise community awareness about the importance of first aid as an essential skill that everyone should possess, especially given the current environmental challenges. She explained that climate change poses new challenges that require communities to be more prepared and resilient in responding to incidents and disasters, and that knowledge of first aid serves as the first line of defense in saving lives before specialized medical help arrives.

This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society to promote health and safety in the community, reaffirming its leading role in humanitarian work while emphasizing the importance of integrating environmental issues into its awareness and relief activities to keep pace with global developments and serve the community more effectively.
