The Environmental and Agricultural Team, in cooperation with the Youth and Emerging Members Committee of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, organized a visit to the Farmers’ Market in Budaiya on 20 December 2025, as part of its awareness-raising agenda aimed at strengthening community partnerships. This initiative seeks to highlight the importance of the agricultural sector in the Kingdom and to provide moral and promotional support to productive Bahraini families and local farmers, in line with the Society’s efforts to build bridges of cooperation with various institutions and individuals.
The visit program included inspection tours by team members across the different market sections, where they explored the diversity of national produce and engaged with farmers to discuss ways to develop local production and address agricultural challenges. Members also contributed to educational activities encouraging market visitors to purchase Bahraini products, emphasizing the economic and environmental value of supporting local farmers as a fundamental pillar of national economic growth.
In this context, Dr. Niloofar Ahmed Jhermi, Board Member and Chairperson of the Youth Committee and the Environmental and Agricultural Team, stated that the visit reflects the Society’s commitment to actively contributing to the achievement of the National Food Security Strategy objectives. She noted that the Budaiya Farmers’ Market represents a vital platform for marketing national products, affirming that the Society’s role goes beyond awareness support to include the implementation of field initiatives that enhance the sustainability of the agricultural sector and ensure the availability of high-quality products.
She also emphasized that the Bahrain Red Crescent Society is a strategic partner in the national initiative for agricultural sector development. The Society’s environmental team focuses on training and empowering underprivileged families to engage in agriculture as a sustainable source of income. She stressed the importance of collective community efforts to promote a culture of local consumption, while commending the significant role played by Bahraini farmers in ensuring the availability of food crops throughout the year.
