The Bahrain Red Crescent Society celebrated “Tree Week” by organizing a tree planting event aimed at raising environmental awareness and increasing green spaces in the Kingdom. The event saw the participation of several officials and volunteers from the Society and comes as part of the Society’s ongoing commitment to supporting national and international initiatives that promote sustainable development and raise awareness about the importance of environmental preservation as an integral part of humanitarian work.

The tree-planting activity, held at the Society’s headquarters in the Diplomatic Area, was supervised by Dr. Nilofer Jahromi, Head of the Environmental and Agricultural Team and Chairperson of the Youth and Adolescents Committee at the Society. She led the volunteers in planting a variety of saplings, emphasizing the vital role of youth volunteerism in supporting environmental and humanitarian causes.

On this occasion, Mr. Mubarak Al Hadi, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, affirmed that the Society places environmental issues at the heart of its humanitarian and relief priorities. He said:

“Tree planting initiatives are not merely agricultural activities; they are an essential part of our humanitarian mission. A healthy environment is the foundation of a dignified life, and tackling climate change begins with our local efforts, such as this event. We believe that protecting our planet is protecting humanity itself, and this fully aligns with the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.”

For her part, Dr. Nilofer Jahromi stated:

“Environmental degradation and climate-related disasters have become among the most serious challenges facing communities, particularly vulnerable groups. Therefore, our efforts in tree planting and environmental awareness represent a practical step toward reducing these risks and strengthening community resilience in facing future environmental challenges.”
