The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), organized a two-day training course on international humanitarian law at the society\u2019s headquarters.<\/p>\n

The event saw the participation of various governmental and private agencies, aiming to support and inform participants and volunteers about the latest developments, applications, and practices in the field of international humanitarian law. The goal was to enhance their expertise, skills, and capabilities.<\/p>\n

Covering a range of topics, the training course delved into the concepts and principles of international humanitarian law, direct participation in hostilities, the legal framework for managing the deceased in armed conflicts, environmental protection during such conflicts, and safeguarding civilians under international humanitarian law. The course also addressed healthcare provision for civilians and protected groups, international crimes falling within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court and offered an overview of the present and future of international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n

Dr. Moez Hedhli, Legal Advisor to the ICRC Regional Delegation for the GCC, and Lawyer Mrs. Zakia Bukamal, a member of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, delivered lectures during the course. Mr. William Frank, Deputy Head of the ICRC Regional Delegation, engaged in an open discussion with attendees, elaborating on the ICRC\u2019s work and its role in advancing and disseminating the principles of international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mubarak Al Hadi, the Secretary-General of the Society, expressed the Bahrain Red Crescent\u2019s commitment to instilling the concept of international humanitarian law among Bahraini volunteers and youth, applying it in their humanitarian operations. He highlighted the training course as part of a series of programs in the field of international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians.<\/p>\n

Mr. Al Hadi commended the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross and emphasized the Society\u2019s dedication to defining, promoting, and integrating international humanitarian law into its programs since the establishment of the Coordinating Committee for the Dissemination of International Humanitarian Law in 1995. He underscored the Society\u2019s active participation in seminars, conferences, and courses organized by the ICRC, contributing to the enhancement of capacities and the cultural understanding of the local community regarding the principles of international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
