The Agricultural Environmental Team at the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) organized a training course entitled \u201cHome Garden.\u201d The course displayed the significance of increasing the green space in the Kingdom of Bahrain to cope with drastic climatic changes, in addition to the possibility of utilizing any area of the land by cultivating it with plants and crops of high aesthetic or nutritional value using advanced agricultural technologies, and how this can be invested in achieving financial income, especially for needy families.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the course, the participants were introduced on how to design and arrange gardens, prepare for the agricultural season, set irrigation systems in the garden, produce compost at home, cultivate indoors, and greenhouse cultivation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The course was conducted remotely for three consecutive days, and was presented by the Head of Charity Agricultural Committee, Dr. Nilofer Jahromi, with the aid of various committee members and experts and agricultural engineers. About seventy participants from Bahrain Red Crescent volunteers, and agriculture enthusiasts from Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated in it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The participants were also introduced on how to take care of the home garden to spend family quality time, in light of the constant need to adhere to precautionary measures to prevent infection with the COVID-19 pandemic, and the necessity for family and children to remain at home most of the time.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is noteworthy that the Bahrain Red Crescent Society is a member of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector in Bahrain, and it constantly seeks to demonstrate the importance of agriculture as a source of income for the needy families, the unemployed, and the farmers who want to increase their productivity. The Society is also keen to boost awareness in the Kingdom of Bahrain about environmental issues and climate change as this is one of the primary causes of many disasters that occur in various regions of the world, such as floods or droughts. The International Federation of the Red Crescent and the Red Cross recently passed a document defining the Federation\u2019s policy on climate change through National Societies, and it requires the Society to issue periodic reports on its activities, and its participation with the official and civil authorities in such events.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
