TWO trucks carrying hundreds of toys donated to Syrian refugees left Bahrain yesterday towards the Za’atari camp in Jordan.
The donations were collected by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society as part of a nationwide drive.
“This is a gift from the people of Bahrain to the young Syrian children, who can play with the toys in the temporary education buildings,” said society secretary-general Dr Fauzi Ameen.
“The consignment contains new and used toys for nursery children along with books for students at the Za’atari camp.
“These children do not have toys and we decided to launch a donation drive
and received good support from St Christopher’s School, RCSI Bahrain and young children who dropped off their toys at the society.”
The Za’atari camp is home to more than 100,000 Syrian refugees who fled their
country due to ongoing civil war.
