The event “Our Beach is always clean”, a cleanliness campaign was organized by Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) at Malkiya beach.
The campaign was organized by the Health Awareness Committee of BRCS in co-operation with the municipality of the northern governorate and “Malkiya Rover”.
The event was held in order to help raise environmental awareness in Bahrain, encourage youth to partake in such initiative and ensure that Bahrain’s beaches remain free of waste.
The event also highlighted the importance of preserving the marine environment and its diversity in Bahrain, keep the beach trash free especially plastics and cigarette.
Head of Charity Agricultural Project Dr. Nilofer Jahromi explained the keenness of the society to participate in various activities related to the environment and climate change due to disasters that occur in various regions of the world such as floods and droughts.
Dr. Jahromi further explained that the International Federation of the Red Crescent and Red Cross recently approved a document that defines the Union’s policy on climate change through national societies, and requires the society to issue periodic reports on its activities and its participation with official community bodies in such events.
At the end of the event, Ms. Mayser Sabry, Chairperson of the Health Awareness Committee, Director General of the Northern Region Municipality thanked for their cooperation for civil society participation in the Malkiyah Coast to contribute to the success of this volunteer work. We commend the positive role of youth groups for caring for the cleanliness and development of the coast and its surrounding environment.
Head of Health Awareness & Head of Blood Bank Ms. Maysar Al Sabri thanked the Director General of the Northern Region Municipality for their cooperation with civil society in Malikiyah beach and their contribution in the success of this campaign. She also commends the positive role of youth groups for their role in cleanliness and development of the beach.
