The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) participated in a regional webinar entitled “The Role of the National Judge in Implementing International Humanitarian Law”.
The webinar was organized by “Judicial and Legal Studies Institute” in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Chairman of the National Committee of International Humanitarian Law in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The webinar witnessed participation by The ICRC’s Kuwait delegation; and a group of elite experts. The webinar aims to support the participants’ knowledge and skills, informing them of the latest developments and applications in the field of international humanitarian law, exchanging experiences, and supporting capacity building at the regional level.
The Bahrain Red Crescent Society participated with a delegation headed by Mr. Mubarak Al Hadi, Bahrain Red Crescent General Secretary, and the membership of Mr. Ali Kadhem, Head of Public Relations Committee & Member Affairs Committee, Dr. Nilofer Jahromi, Head of Young & Youth Committee and Charity Agricultural Project, and Miss Muyssar S. Awadhalla, Head of Health Awareness & Head of Blood Bank, in addition to Zakia Bukamal, and Muhammad Al-Basri, and Issa Saad.
In his speech at the beginning of the webinar, Mr. Al Hadi praised the role played by the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law. He said that this webinar reflects the continuous interest of the Kingdom of Bahrain in spreading the values of peace and coexistence and ensuring respect for the sovereignty of states and respect for international law, especially international humanitarian law.
“Bahrain Red Crescent Society is keen to actively contribute to the formulation and development of national plans related to the work of the committee, especially in terms of exchanging information and experiences with relevant organizations and committees, and to contribute to the development of educational programs for international humanitarian law, and to organize preparation, training and rehabilitation programs for national cadres in related disciplines.” Mr. Al Hadi said.
The Bahrain Red Crescent members contributed to enriching the discussions of this webinar and the topics it presented over two days, including developments in the application of the human rights system and international humanitarian law locally and globally, and the problems and challenges of the national application of international humanitarian law.
