The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) has participated in the “Leaders of the Red Cross and Crescent Societies in MENA region” meeting in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The meeting discussed coordinating efforts to address the humanitarian challenges that weigh heavily on the region and the resulting increase in the needs for providing relief and humanitarian aid.
The BRCS was represented by its board members Dr. Mariam Al Hajri and Dr. Kawthar Al Eid.
The participation is within BRCS keenness to concert efforts, consultation, coordination and the adoption of proactive plans by expanding the scope of efforts to meet humanitarian necessities.
It is also part of its efforts to coordinate humanitarian mobility towards adopting strategies to ensure rapid response to emergencies, building local, regional and international partnerships and teamwork to provide rapid relief support.
Dr. Al Hajri stressed the importance of developing policies, strategies, legislation and regulations based on planning and coordination with partners, in addition to monitoring and evaluation to enhance the resilience of the systems in the face of exceptional health conditions.
The national societies made presentations and discussed the topics of the consultative meeting, including the impact of crises in many regions of the Middle East, such as fuel, water and food shortages, epidemics, and environmental and climate issues.
