The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) announced its donation of $ 50,000 to the Lebanese Red Cross as part of the relief efforts, after the destruction of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, due to the explosion of its port, which left 137 people dead and about 5,000 injured, in addition to massive material damage, according to official estimates.
The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society approved this donation, which comes in the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s relief contributions to the brotherly Lebanon, which is facing an unprecedented ordeal that requires supporting its people and helping them overcome these difficult times.
Mr. Mubarak Al Hadi, “BRCS” Director-General/Act General Secretary, said that the society was quick to take all necessary administrative measures to transfer this donation, and sent a letter in this regard to the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent.
“The society opened the door for receiving private donations from individuals and institutions in Bahrain to contribute in providing other donation to the brothers in Lebanon, and the society is keen to carry out its duties towards Lebanon in this ordeal, and according to what the circumstances require, especially as the needs of Lebanon’s relief and humanitarian aid is very large.” Mr. Al Hadi added.
Mr.Al Hadi asserted the Bahrain Red Crescent’s keenness to work with its partners, including voluntary and charitable organizations, and institutions, to strengthen the effectiveness of the Kingdom’s presence in the areas of relief work at the local and global levels, and to provide assistance to the vulnerable and victims of disasters and conflicts inside and outside Bahrain.
