The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) continues to implement its initiative to provide psychological support to citizens and residents in light of the social distancing and the negative psychological effects this may have.
This initiative, which has the slogan “Your Mental Health Matters” is implemented by the Society’s Health Awareness Committee headed by Miss Muyssar S. Awadhalla, and it included many activities. The initiative is coordinating with mental health specialists in the Ministry of Health to answer questions and inquiries from citizens and residents, taking into account maintaining privacy and confidentiality of data when seeking assistance.
In this context, the initiative organized a webinar with trainer Iman Al Khaja, in which she spoke about “ideas and feelings and their role in mental health,” noting the connection between thoughts mental health and presented some solutions to boost positivity and how to calm the soul and boost inner peace.
The initiative also hosted Professor Seddiqa Ali Abbas from the University of Bahrain in an interactive lecture entitled “Mental Health during Corona”, and the audience participated in a breathing and relaxation exercise.
The initiative also met with Dr. Taghreed Ajour, head of oral and dental health services in health centers, responsible for coordinating and organizing random examinations to detect infections with the Coronavirus, where she reviewed aspects of the work frontliners and how they showed patience,s steadfastness, and courage while providing services and health care for the infected and the public.
The initiative organized another meeting with the frontline nurse Fathia Al Tublani, who stated that teamwork is one of the most important ways to overcome psychological and social pressures. The head of the Public Relations Committee of the Society, Mr. Ali Kadhem, explained that this training course focused on the concept of volunteering as one of the most important basic principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
