PLANS to build refugee camps in Arab nations bordering Palestine will soon be underway to help the besieged people of the Gaza Strip.
Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) secretary-general Dr. Fawzi Al Amin represented the country during an emergency meeting on the Gaza crisis in Amman, Jordan, where 16 humanitarian organisations working in the Middle East pledged to continue relief work in the war-torn area.
Dr. Fawzi Amin said that the meeting was held following a request from the PRCS and IFRC.
BRCS general manager Mubarak Khalifa Al Hadi said, “The meeting assessed the situation in Gaza in detail, which will help the societies plan their way into reaching the aid within Gaza”.
Representatives of the societies also discussed the recovery phase, which included repairing and reconstructing public health and medical facilities, providing shelter and non-food items, and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable sections of society.
They will operate under the umbrella of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), which yesterday decided to lodge a case against the Israeli government at the International Court of Justice for violating humanitarian and international laws.
