This event reflects the Society’s commitment to social responsibility and its ongoing efforts to engage in community events and foster connections across diverse segments of society.
During the celebration, Society volunteers honored the participating children by casting the “Hayya Beyya” plant into the sea off the coast of Karbabad. Additionally, volunteers took the opportunity to familiarize participants with the Bahrain Red Crescent, its activities, initiatives, and operational methods, highlighting its humanitarian efforts both locally and internationally.
The Bahrain Red Crescent Society places special significance on the “Hayya Beyya” celebration, deeply rooted in Bahraini and Gulf folklore. People traditionally plant and nurture the snake plant, later casting it into the sea on the ninth day of Dhu al-Hijjah as a symbolic act to wish for the safe return of pilgrims. This tradition is accompanied by the chanting of the well-known ” Hayya Beyya” songs, fostering solidarity with pilgrims and nurturing a spirit of cooperation, sacrifice, and generosity among young people from an early age.
