GDN Media’s #HelpThem Ramadan community campaign, in partnership with Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), has received a diplomatic boost.
British Ambassador Roddy Drummond called into the BRCS HQ in Hoora yesterday to deliver his support to the victims of the recent earthquakes that destroyed parts of Syria and Türkiye, as well as struggling local families.
Mr Drummond joined the Diplomatic Service in 1985 and one of his previous postings was as deputy head of mission in Damascus, the capital of Syria, between 2004 and 2007.
“I was very happy to make a private donation to the BCRS for the Ramadan Appeal, with best wishes from my wife, Yasmin, and myself,” he said.
“We recognise that the BCRS does amazing work year round, both in Bahrain and abroad.
“I applaud the campaign by the GDN to raise awareness of the continuing plight of those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria, both countries very dear to my heart.
“Charity should be part of all our lives year round, and I know that is the credo by which all my Bahraini friends live,” he said.
Gulf Daily News readers and online visitors have already started to offer support with steady supplies of bedding, toys, toiletries, clothing and shoes.
We are appealing to YOU to donate gifts during the holy month to our offices at The Press in East Riffa, our commercial HQ on Exhibitions Road and the BRCS HQ in Manama.
Under the hashtag #HelpThem we need your support to collect brand new:
Clothes, shoes and accessories for men, women and children
Blankets and pillows
Hygiene kits
And toys
Your generous donations will help people whose lives were destroyed in a matter of seconds and give hope that rebuilding dignity and everyday life will be possible this Eid.
Readers and online visitors can help BRCS to achieve so much by picking up some extra clothing, blankets, toothbrushes, sanitary products and toys, for example, when you’re next on a shopping trip.
Our teams are ready and waiting to receive your big-hearted donations.
