The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) participated in the 18th meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies, Heads of Red Crescent Societies in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
The meeting dealt with many topics on the agenda, foremost of which is the contents of the final statement of the Supreme Council in the last two sessions (41-42), which are related to strengthening the relations of cooperation and partnership that exist between the Gulf Cooperation Council, countries, regional and international organizations.
The meeting also discussed the outputs of joint work plans, what was agreed upon in the working groups and joint committees that were formed for this purpose, the development of joint work mechanisms, and the reports prepared by them on the efforts of the GCC states to combat the Corona pandemic.
The participants approved the proposal of the Kingdom of Bahrain submitted by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society regarding the formation of a coordinating committee between the Red Crescent societies and bodies in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the GCC states.
Mr. Mubarak Al-Hadi, Secretary-General of BRCS, stated that this meeting comes within the framework of strengthening the joint Gulf action in the relief and humanitarian field, increasing the contributions of the Gulf Red Crescent bodies in providing aid to the needy and afflicted around the world, and effectively responding to international appeals related to relief of areas affected by Natural disasters, wars and conflicts.
Mr. Al-Hadi stressed that the importance of the meeting lies in strengthening the initiatives of the Gulf Red Crescent bodies, and helps to strengthen the links between them in order to exchange knowledge, and experiences, which stimulates the improvement of the performance of all, and promotes, facilitates and encourages various forms of communication between the bodies.
Mr. Al-Hadi stressed the readiness of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society to interact with various topics in light of the joint Gulf action, and to support national efforts to address natural disasters, including the society’s ability to continue working and provide aid to the needy in exceptional circumstances, and in light of the circumstances imposed by the Corona pandemic.
The delegation of the Red Crescent Society in these meetings was headed by the Society’s Secretary-General, Mr. Mubarak Khalifa Al-Hadi, and the delegation included Dr. Fawzi Abdullah Amin, member of the Society’s Board of Directors, and Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, the administrative observer.
