The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Secretary-General of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Mr. Mubarak Al Hadi, chaired the Executive Committee of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization ARCO. It includes five Arab associations, namely the Saudi, Palestinian, Moroccan, and Iraqi Red Crescent, as well as the Bahraini Red Crescent.
The Executive Committee of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization made its recommendations for the 46th session, which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on March 30th and 31st under the theme “Unity for Humanity”, reflecting aspirations to unite relief and humanitarian efforts at the Arab and international levels to ensure that its objectives are achieved as effectively as possible within the framework of the principles of the International Red Crescent and Red Cross movement.
Mr. Al Hadi confirmed the support of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society to promote joint Arab action in the field of relief and humanitarian work, increase the contributions of Red Crescent and Arab Red Cross associations and bodies in assisting the needy and afflicted around the world, and actively respond to international appeals related to relief to areas affected by natural disasters, wars, and conflicts.
Mr. Al Hadi noted the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad al-Tuwaijri, in maintaining and strengthening the Arab Humanitarian Action Unit, and expressed confidence in the ability of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority headed by His Excellency Dr. Jalal Al Owaisi to further develop the organization’s work and implement qualitative initiatives and programs, after Saudi Arabia took over the presidency of the 46th session of the organization from the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Mr. Al Hadi added that the initiatives of the Arab National Associations for the Red Crescent and the Red Cross help to strengthen the ties between them to share knowledge and experiences, which stimulates the improvement of the performance of all, stressing that these initiatives will strengthen, facilitate and encourage various forms of communication between national associations at all times to exchange experiences and experience and to benefit from successful lessons and build the best.
The session witnessed the presence of delegations representing 21 Arab crescent and red cross associations, in addition to the participation of observers and representatives of several international organizations, including the President of the International Federation of the Red Crescent and the Red Cross and the President of the Italian Red Cross Francesco Rocca.
The session issued several resolutions at the end of its meeting in Riyadh, the most prominent of which was the promotion of bilateral and collective cooperation programs among the members of the organization to face the future and its challenges efficiently and continue to build the capacity of National Crescent and Red Cross associations to fulfill their responsibilities and tasks and to provide support to the neediest groups under any circumstances and without any discrimination.
