The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by Bahrain Red Crescent Society, celebrated World Humanitarian Day, in which it was celebrated globally this year under the slogan “Real-Life Heroes,” as a tribute to the humanitarian workers, and sending a gratitude message to all those who pledged themselves to help others around the world.
The Society noted, in particular, the efforts of the Bahraini health and medical cadres who are fighting in the front lines with patience and determination to tackle COVID-19 pandemic, stressing that the world recognizes these cadres as courageous volunteers who risk their lives and the lives of their families to protect humanity from this pandemic.
Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Dr. Fawzi Amin, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is entitled to be proud of its long record in the field of humanitarian work, and said that the desire for humanitarian action is an inherent characteristic of the people of Bahrain, and is apparent at the public and governmental level.
“Bahrain Red Crescent Society, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, is the legally authorized body to represent internationally the government of Bahrain and its people in the field of humanitarian work, just like all its Societies counterparts. The Society’s membership in an international network that consists of 192 global societies, enables it to carry out its role with high efficiency, as it has all the capabilities to take the required procedures and respond to the needs of the afflicted and needy people around the world.” Dr. Amin said.
Dr. Amin; Who is also the Head of the International Federation of the Red Cross delegation, IFRC, and the rest Crescent Societies in the GCC, praised all the entities of the humanitarian relief volunteer work in the Kingdom of Bahrain, especially the Royal Foundation for Humanitarian Work, and the various NGOs that joined the humanitarian work.
“Bahrain Red Crescent Society is the pioneer of the humanitarian work in the kingdom, but we see that the human legacy in the Kingdom of Bahrain consists of the sum of all humanitarian work provided by all bodies, societies and charitable funds, regardless of the year of their establishment, as the humanitarian field is extensive and accommodates everyone.” He added.
Dr. Amin asserted that the Society has succeeded in the Kingdom of Bahrain on the local, regional and international levels in responding to most of the humanitarian appeals, and most of the entities and associations have received appreciation and praise. Still, the question now is how to continue developing humanitarian work. The challenge is to raise the level of effort and teamwork and not be satisfied with individual work only.
He concluded his statement by saying:
“The field is open for us to improve this aspect of humanitarian work, and our goal is not only to aid the afflicted and needy, but to ensure the sustainability of the impact of our efforts and our contribution to help them restore their lives, and this does not happen by individual action, rather it needs to partake responsibilities, assign tasks and coordinate roles according to specializations in the various fields of humanitarian work.”
