The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) has listed the Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS), on the list of countries that responded to the Federation’s appeal to collect donations from its members to fight coronavirus ordeal in the most affected areas around the world.
“BRCS” Member of the Board of Directors, Dr. Fawzi Abdullah Amin expressed his appreciation to register the name of Bahrain at the forefront of countries that work to support relief and humanitarian work globally and the Kingdom’s keenness to fulfil its responsibility in this field and embody the spirit of international solidarity in crises and disasters.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain, represented by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, is the first initiators to responded to the “IFRC” appeal for fundraising to tackle coronavirus, this appreciation by the Federation comes as a result of “BRCS” commitment to permanent work with various entities of the “IFRC”, and the society’s adoption to global standards in relief and humanitarian work and institutional work system that enhances performance and highlights the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the humanitarian field as a whole.” Dr. Amin said.
For his part, Mr. Mubarak Al Hadi, “BRCS” Director-General / Act General Secretary, explained that this response to the appeal of the International Federation comes within the framework of the efforts made by the Bahrain Red Crescent Society to provide relief and humanitarian aid at various levels, pointing in this context to the fact that the society also provided financial support for the national efforts to combat the emerging coronavirus, in line with the society’s assumption of its role in providing aid and assistance in crises, and in compliance with its duty to support Bahraini society.
“The Bahrain Red Crescent Society is keen on improving its work and activating relief efforts inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain, and to maintain its advanced position on the list of the best national societies. I must also stress the importance of efforts made by all members of the society in achieving more local, regional and global excellence for the Bahrain Red Crescent Society.” Mr. Al Hadi added.
It is noteworthy that the Bahrain Red Crescent Society was recognized among the best 50 national societies around the world according to the report of the Compliance and Mediation Committee of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva, Switzerland. The society won this position after it complied with all the objective and direct criteria approved by the federation, these standards are represented by the contribution of the society to the database and benefits system of the International Federation, submission of financial Statements during the last three years, conducting an external audit of accounts, submitting an annual report on its activities and its review of its statute in the ten recent years, and paying the subscriptions to the Federation on the dates specified in the Financial Regulations.
